Graphing Calculator
Plot up to 3 functions — drag to pan, scroll to zoom.
Try: x^3 - 3x, sqrt(x), 1/x, sin(x)/x. Use ^ for powers, pi and e as constants.
Hover the graph to read values.
How to use the graphing calculator
- Type a function of x in the first box — for example
x^2 - 4. - Add up to two more to compare curves; each gets its own color.
- Drag the graph to pan and scroll (or use + / −) to zoom in on interesting spots.
- Hover the graph to read the exact (x, f(x)) values under your cursor.
Frequently asked questions
What can I type into the graphing calculator?
The variable x, the operators + − * / ^ (with parentheses), the functions sin, cos, tan, sqrt, cbrt, ln, log, abs, exp, and the constants pi and e. log is base-10; ln is the natural log. Implicit multiplication works too: 2x, 3(x+1).
Why does my graph have gaps or break at some points?
That's a real discontinuity, not a bug. At points where the function is undefined — 1/x at x = 0, tan(x) at π/2, sqrt(x) for negative x — the plotter lifts the pen instead of drawing a false line through the gap.
How do I pan and zoom?
Drag the graph to pan, scroll (or pinch) to zoom centered on your cursor, and use the + / − / Reset buttons — they work from the keyboard too.
Why does a curve sometimes look jagged or spiky?
The graph is drawn by sampling the function at many x-values. Very steep or fast-oscillating functions (like sin(100x) zoomed out) can outrun the sampling. Zoom in on the region you're studying for the true shape.
Is my function sent to a server?
No. Parsing and plotting happen entirely in your browser, and the parser is hand-written — your input is never evaluated as code.
