The video downloads as a .webm file. Recordings stay on your device — this page has no server to send them to.

How to record your screen

  1. Tick "Include microphone audio" if you want to narrate.
  2. Press Record and choose a screen, window, or tab in the browser's picker.
  3. Watch the timer — the preview shows exactly what is being captured.
  4. Press Stop, preview the result, and download the .webm file.

Frequently asked questions

Where is my recording saved?

Nowhere but your computer. The video is created in your browser and downloaded as a .webm file — nothing is uploaded to any server.

Can I record audio with my screen?

Yes — tick the microphone box before you start. Your voice is captured through your mic and combined with the screen video. Tab audio is not captured by default.

Which browsers support screen recording?

Current Chrome, Edge, and Firefox on desktop support both screen capture and recording. Safari on Mac supports recording from version 14.1 but screen capture is limited, and iPhone/iPad Safari cannot capture the screen.

Why is the Record button greyed out or missing?

The page checked your browser and a required feature is unavailable — usually screen capture (getDisplayMedia) or the MediaRecorder API. The message on screen says exactly which one is missing.

What if I deny the screen-sharing permission?

Nothing bad happens. The tool shows a message explaining the permission was denied, and you can press Record again to re-request it. The tool never records without your permission.
