How to use Text to PDF
- Paste or type your text — paragraphs and blank lines are preserved.
- Style it — optional title, page size, orientation, font size, and margins.
- Create & download to get your PDF. Nothing was ever uploaded.
From plain text to a real document
Plain text is the most durable format there is — but it's ugly to print and awkward to share. This tool bridges the gap: it takes your raw words and lays them out like a proper document, measuring every line against the real font so wrapping is clean, flowing long text across as many pages as it needs. The result is a genuine PDF (selectable text, real fonts) rather than a screenshot of words — it prints crisply, reads on any device, and weighs almost nothing.
Picking good settings
Letter suits North American printing; A4 is the standard nearly everywhere else. 12pt is the classic reading size — drop to 10–11 for dense notes, raise to 14+ for handouts meant to be read at arm's length. Wide margins give long documents room to breathe and leave space for handwritten notes; narrow margins fit more on a page. The optional title prints larger and bolder as a heading, and is also written into the PDF's metadata.
- Is my text uploaded anywhere?
- No — never. Your text is typeset into a PDF entirely in your browser by the pdf-lib library. Nothing is uploaded, stored, or sent to any server, so it's safe for drafts, notes, and personal writing.
- What styling options do I get?
- Page size (Letter, A4, or Legal), portrait or landscape orientation, font size from 10 to 18pt, margins of half an inch, three-quarters, or a full inch, and an optional title that prints as a heading on the first page.
- How are long documents handled?
- Text flows automatically across as many pages as needed, with proper word-wrapping measured against the real font — words are never cut mid-line unless a single word is longer than the line itself. Paragraph breaks are preserved.
- Why not just print to PDF from my browser?
- You can, but browser print-to-PDF inherits the webpage's styling, headers, and footers — and the result varies by browser. This tool gives you a clean, purpose-built document with exactly the typography you chose, identical on every device.
- Can I use special characters or other languages?
- Latin-based text — including accented characters, common punctuation, and symbols — works fully. Scripts outside the Latin range (such as Chinese, Arabic, or emoji) aren't supported by the built-in PDF fonts and will be skipped.
- What's a good use for this?
- Turning study notes into a printable handout, converting a draft essay into a submission-ready file, making a clean reading copy of plain-text ebooks, or archiving chat logs and lists as PDFs.
