Kanban Board
Your work, three columns: To do, Doing, Done. Add cards, move them along with one tap, and come back anytime — the board saves itself.
How to use a Kanban board for schoolwork
Kanban is a visual way to manage work: every task is a card, and cards travel left to right as you work on them. Teams in software and manufacturing swear by it, but it shines just as well for homework — the board makes procrastination visible.
- Brain-dump into To do. Every assignment, chore, and deadline gets its own card. Keep titles short; put details in the description.
- Pull, don't push. Move a card into Doing only when you actually start it — and try to keep at most 2–3 cards in Doing so nothing stalls.
- Celebrate Done. Moving a finished card to Done is the reward. Review the column at the end of the week to see what you got done.
- Come back freely. The board autosaves to your browser, so it survives closed tabs and restarts.
Why buttons instead of drag and drop?
Dragging cards with a finger on a phone is fiddly — drops land in the wrong column, and scrolling fights the gesture. Every card here has explicit arrow buttons labeled with the destination column, so a move is always one deliberate tap, on any device.
- Is my board saved if I close the tab?
- Yes. Your board is stored in your own browser's local storage and restored automatically when you come back. Nothing is sent to a server, and there is no account to sign in to.
- How do I move cards between columns?
- Every card has arrow buttons labeled with the column it will move to, for example Doing forward or To do back. Tap once and the card moves. The buttons are deliberately big so the board works well on phones, where drag and drop is fiddly.
- What are the example cards?
- On your first visit the board comes with a few sample cards so you can see how it works. Each one carries an Example badge, and all of them disappear automatically the moment you add your first real card.
- Can I edit or delete a card after adding it?
- Yes. Each card has an Edit button that opens an inline editor for the title and description, and a Delete button that asks for confirmation first so you can't remove a card by accident.
- Does this board work on my phone?
- Yes. The columns stack vertically on small screens and the cards move with large tap buttons instead of drag and drop, which is unreliable on touchscreens.
- Is my board data private?
- Completely. Everything is saved only in your browser on your device. The Magic Codex never sees your cards, and clearing your browser's site data wipes the board.
