Gradebook

A weighted gradebook for teachers. Add students, group assignments into weighted categories, enter scores — every average updates live, right in your browser.

Class roster

Add one student at a time. Removing a student also removes their scores.

How to set up a weighted gradebook

A weighted gradebook gives each kind of work — homework, quizzes, exams — its own share of the final grade. A class with 20 homework assignments and 2 exams still lets the exams count most, because the weight (not the assignment count) decides each category's influence.

  1. Add your students on the Roster tab, one name at a time.
  2. Create categories and set weights on the Assignments tab — for example Homework 30%, Quizzes 30%, Exams 40%. The weights must add up to exactly 100%.
  3. Add assignments, each with a category and a maximum point value.
  4. Enter scores on the Scores tab. Every student's weighted average — and the class stats in the sidebar — update as you type.

Blank scores vs. zeros

A blank cell means not graded yet: it is excluded from the average so an ungraded quiz never drags a student down. A typed 0 means the student earned zero and counts fully. Keep the distinction in mind when a column is half-empty.

How is each student's average calculated?
Each category average is the student's earned points divided by the possible points in that category. That average is multiplied by the category's weight, and the weighted results are added together for the final percentage out of 100.
Do missing scores count as zero?
No. A blank score cell is treated as not graded yet and is left out of the average entirely — it neither helps nor hurts the student. Type 0 explicitly if the student earned zero points.
Why do category weights have to add up to 100%?
The weights are each category's share of the final grade, so they must total exactly 100% for the average to be fair. The page shows a clear warning whenever the weights do not add up, so an unfinished setup can never be mistaken for final grades.
What letter grade scale does the gradebook use?
The standard 10-point scale with plus and minus grades: A is 93 to 100, A-minus 90 to 92, B-plus 87 to 89, B 83 to 86, B-minus 80 to 82, C-plus 77 to 79, C 73 to 76, C-minus 70 to 72, D-plus 67 to 69, D 60 to 66, and F below 60.
Is my gradebook data sent anywhere?
No. Students, assignments, and scores are saved only in your own browser's local storage. Nothing is uploaded, no account is needed, and clearing your browser data removes it.
Can I manage more than one class?
The gradebook holds one class per browser. For a second class, use a different browser or device, or clear this gradebook when the term is over.
What happens if I delete a category that has assignments?
The page will not let you. Delete that category's assignments first, then remove the category — this keeps scores from being silently orphaned.
